what is 22q?
Well, 22q11.2 Deletion is a genetic disorder. witch is a tiny piece of chromosome 22 is missing. This missing piece has the ability to affect every system within the human body leading to various health problems.
22q Occurs in 1 of every 2,000-4,000 births. It can typically occur without a family history of the syndrome. With that being said it has become difficult for doctors to find a cure for it, 22q symptoms can vary. Did you know 22q has also been recognized as the second most common genetic disorder following Down’s Syndrome! Although there is no cure for individuals with 22q11.2 deletion/duplication syndromes, most children and adults are able to do very well within their life... I have an experience that the 22q community is full of outstanding families that are always offering encouraging stories, important insight, and endless support.
